Early Arkansas Hunters: 1900ish

This photograph has floated around the internet for some time and is the cover picture of James F. Keefe and Lynn Morrow’s The White River Chronicles of S. C. Turnbo. However, the man in the image is not S. C. Turnbo. It is Charles Weslie Hill (Born in Izard County on September 28, 1879, died February 18, 1861, in Searcy County) with four hounds, a horse, and a single-shot shotgun. In 1900, he was living in Baxter County, working as a farmer, married to Ida, with a six-month-old daughter, Lillie. Image: Ancestry. Information: US Census
